Christina Vassallo is a curator and arts administrator based in Brooklyn. She began working with the nonprofit alternative art space, Flux Factory, in December 2009 and was appointed Executive Director in May 2011. Since then, she has worked to create an unusually supportive environment for the production of truly transformative projects through an international artist residency program, exhibitions, educational initiatives, and other collaborative opportunities. Under her direction Flux Factory has launched innovative participatory programs, including Flux Death Match; Congress of Collectives; Public Trust; Kitty City; and The Future of Your Neighborhood: Who Decides?
In addition to her work at Flux Factory, Christina is the Programming Associate for Culture Push, an organization that supports the creation of civically engaged artworks; she also independently curates exhibitions for a variety of non-profit and for-profit venues, including an upcoming exhibition at Artspace in New Haven, and previous projects at Jersey City Museum, chashama, NURTUREart, Lafayette College, New Haven University, and New Jersey State Museum. Christina holds a B.A. in art history from New York University and an M.A. in visual arts management, also from NYU.
