Deborah Marrow is the director of the Getty Foundation. She has also held other key positions within the J. Paul Getty Trust, including interim president and CEO, dean for external relations, and interim director of the Getty Research Institute.
Under her leadership, the Getty Foundation has supported projects that increase the understanding and preservation of the visual arts in Los Angeles and around the world. One recent grant-supported initiative was Pacific Standard Time: Art in L.A. 1945–1980, a collaboration of more than 60 organizations across Southern California joining together in 2011-2012 to tell the story of the birth of the Los Angeles art scene through exhibitions, programs, and publications.
Throughout her career, she has been active in professional organizations in the fields of art history, museums, preservation, and philanthropy and has served on a number of nonprofit boards. She holds a doctorate in art history from the University of Pennsylvania, and she began her career at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
