PAZ TANJUAQUIO has been active in the NYC arts scene since 1990 as a choreographer, performer, visual artist, curator, and arts organizer. She received her MFA in Dance from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and her BA in Visual Arts from University of California, San Diego. Her work has been presented at many venues in NYC, nationally and internationally. Awards for her work include National Endowment for the Arts, NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs, New York Foundation for the Arts, Queens Council on the Arts, and has been artist-in-residence at Kaatsbaan in Tivoli, NY, Akiyoshidai International Art Village in Japan, Atlantic Center for the Arts in Florida, Movement Research in NYC, participated in the Suitcase Fund Mekong Project’s Cambodia Creative Residency, and artistic research travel in Vietnam, Japan, and the Philippines.Paz is Co-Director of TOPAZ ARTS, Inc. – a nonprofit arts organization founded in 2000 by artists Todd Richmond and Paz Tanjuaquio. A creative development center, TOPAZ ARTS supports new works in contemporary performing and visual arts. The 2,500 sf facility houses a gallery space, rehearsal studio and an organic roof garden. The TOPAZ ARTS Visual Arts Program presents 4 exhibitions annually, focusing on professional artists, from the established to the under-recognized, our exhibitions allow for experimentation, visibility and access to diverse audiences.
