I use pattern as a framework for investigating the many aspects of painting that interest me – gesture, the idea of time, scale, size, and negative and positive space. Making physical work in a digital world has increasingly influenced my practice; given that most people experience paintings first on their computer screen, the digital presence of the piece is something I consider alongside the physical presence. The paintings have become more like objects to counteract the flatness of the computer monitor upon which they are viewed. b. 1983, lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
