This piece comes from a body of work called systems in which industrial orange, a color that indicates warnings and states of emergency - in both the natural and man made world - is used. The idea of organic and inorganic systems is explored. Materials and form allude to artificial systems (electrical), natural systems (the body), mutating adaptive systems (viral), etc. While playing with the idea of systems in a broad sense, the work is also a formal exploration of the idea of line, both two dimensionally and three dimensionally. System (network in orange) exploits the inherent character of the material to create visual tension. Line slips back and forth between two and three dimensions consequently blurring the boundaries between drawing and sculpture.
