La Caja de la Memoria Viva “The Box of living Memory” is a multimedia exhibit that represents the life of Doña Constancia Colon-Clemente (sitting in the image above), a Black Puerto Rican woman who migrated to the United States in the 1940s. In this three dimensional multimedia installation the viewer will enter Connie's head. The viewer will smell her Agua Florida, see her photos, and hear her mind speaking about her life, her thoughts and her experiences. Some of the things said will not shock you but upon further reflection, it is yet another example of the racial separation and rejection within our own people. Her story is just one of many that could be told. As an artist still learning the stories of his people, Adrian “Viajero” Roman soon realizes history books have left many questions unanswered. Through Dona Constancia’s story he embarks on a quest to visually tell the stories left out of the books and captures in these beautifully orchestrated portrait installations the dignity in the people’s struggle and validates their existence.

Through our travels, we stop briefly to meet, love and share encounters with one another, however precious, these moments are transient." Adrian explores memory through observed and experienced events, repressed trauma, childhood, and preservation of time by using images and objects from the past that embody cultural memory. "Viajero" is not just a name, it's a projection of life's journeys with the purpose to carry consciousness of timeless being in the midst of a time-bound experience." Adrian's work has been exhibited in solo and group shows in the United States and Puerto Rico.
