Curtis Wallin - The Illuminated King of WALLINDIA
Artwork Description
Curtis Wallin
WALLINDIA: an Imaginary country founded by the artist Curtis Wallin where he depicts himself and his wife as King Curtis and Queen Julie of WALLINDIA, rulers for life. The works of art in this series are created from different mediums but the individual artworks are guided by a constant vision dictated by the King himself. The art must display the endless good for people and keep in mind the country’s motto “Fun & Pretty” THE ILLUMINATED KING OF WALLINDIA the sculpture submitted here is a bust of the Illuminated King surrounded by orange and purple lights blinking in sequence on top of a pedestal of glowing pink light. The Illuminated king was so named not for bringing enlightenment to his country but for bringing the electric light to WALLINDIA. Legend has it a young King Curtis was scheduled to wrestle a great white bear in a show of his virility, as all kings must do in WALLINDIA, though our King chose to have his match be the first night match under the newly installed electric lights in the town center. Unfortunately due to a short in the circuit, no lights were lit that evening and the match was rescheduled for high noon the following day. The young King Curtis won with great ease and ascended the throne.
