this work, a drawing in relief with added color is mainly graphite, pastel, Artist Statement Art for me has been a calling and a continuous adventure. Each new work begins begins with an intuitive impulse, a gestural movement, a mark, a beginning that has no defined destination. My interest in movement as a conveyer of creativity grows out of a love of dance which goes back to childhood and continues to this day. I do this dance in the privacy of my studio, a dance in which I express my ideas/emotions, through line, shape ,color, texture etc. Spontaneity is an important component, because truth resides, but the process is truly a mystery. It is a reflective pursuit in which destruction partners with creation. Each work must be a new experience becausebecause of my own need for a vital experience, and as an offering to my audience. Using intuition and persistance, sometimes by sublime accident, I create something ineresting,, fresh, and relevant. It becomes aha moment and my ultimate reward. Changing the materials I work withopens new directions, in my recent work I use draped fabrics to create relief forms, In the past, I used aluminum, wood, canvas, and combinations. Drawing is an important part of my practice.
