Artwork Description


This work was done using found objects like cardboard, posters, magazine pages, letters, etc. as support. Images over imposed are mostly done using artist colored tape.

Hector Madera-Gonzalez

Hector Madera-Gonzalez was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, in 1977. He received a BFA from La Escuela de Artes Plasticas de Puerto Rico in 2004 and in the same year participated in the Fondazione Antonio Ratti Advanced Course in Visual Arts with the artist Jimmie Durham. Currently, he is studying at Brooklyn College working towards a Master of FIne Arts. He will graduate in June of 2011. He has had solo exhibitions at Photo Miami, Miami (2007); and Museo de Arte Contemporaneo (MAC), Puerto Rico (2006). Some recent group exhibitions are “A PERSON OF COLOR/ a mostly orange exhibition”, The Green Gallery, Milwaukee, Wisconsin (2011); “The Wrong Miracle”, NoMiNIMO Espacio Cultural, Guayaquil, Ecuador (2011); “I want to believe that something extraordinary can happen”, Bowman/Bloom Gallery, Manhattan, New York (2010); "Painting with Pictures", Casita Maria Center for Arts and Education, Bronx (2010), "From NY with Love", Don't Projects, Paris (2010). His work has also been shown in several art fairs including The Dark Fair, Photo Miami, Scope, and CIRCA international Art Fair. He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
