Artwork Description
Brian H. Crede
My work has been labeled constructionist. The majority of my artwork consists of cut and layered paper. My palette is generally black and flesh-tones; white and earth-tones; or monochromatic colors. These works are shallow 3-dimensional constructions and the interaction of light and the movement of the viewer causes the shadows to change – creating a somewhat kinetic piece of art. I have also worked with appliqued fabric and embroidery to create this subtle graphic effect, without the dimensionality of the cut and layered papers. Other works are wire illustrations – loosely derived from my cloisonné enamel work. These works straddle the fine line between illustration and sculpture.

What I mean is: to have black on a painting first of all is really daring and beautiful; second, to have a male penis exposed so freely and happily is really emotionally comforting (perhaps emotionally disturbing to the unexposed) to me. It is really beautiful.
