Memory Now is part of a series of paintings begun as a response to my mother's death. the paintings have been part of a process of mourning for her death. the studio became a safe place to channel the emotional energy connected to mourning her passing. for my whole professional life i have been concerned with abstract painting so in dealing with these concerns using an abstract vocabulary was natural. also the simplicity of image grew out of my many years of meditation where the unessential gets tossed.
