Anette Millington - Tree of Life
Artwork Description
Anette Millington
"My work questions what happens to the world if the physical elements of place- ground, sky, walls- are removed and changed. Remaining is an internal space composed of up/down, close/far, right/left, movement and energy. The paintings explore spacial segmentation and are informed by mirco- organic and land-based systems. I depict a sacred geometry, engaging feminine aesthetics as well as mythic traditions. Patterned surfaces, tactile paint layers, and transparent membranes result in a unique form of sensual abstraction. The work is a journey, a playful and deeply serious encounter with guardians, poison flowers and a state of rapture." Anette Millington is a painter who has exhibited in New York City, NY and Boston, MA. She attended the School of Visual Arts for her MFA, and received a BFA from the Mass College of Art. She has worked in museum education at the Brooklyn Museum, the Guggenheim Museum and the Museum of Modern Art, and currently teaches Two Dimensional Integrated Design in the Foundations Department at Parsons.
