The world under the boardwalk in Coney Island, Brooklyn includes stretches of quiet land that are home to tunnel lairs, foxholes, abandoned building entrances, discarded sharks, guard-doves, love nests and campsites.

Nathan Kensinger

Nathan Kensinger is a photographer and filmmaker whose work documents New York City’s abandoned and industrial edges, penetrating beyond physical, psychological and bureaucratic boundaries to examine hidden worlds. His photographs have been published in the NY Times, NY Post, NY Daily News, NY Magazine, and the Village Voice. His photographs have been exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum and the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, and are in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Library.
