Artwork Description

This image was taken in the Apennini Mountains in a town of Antona in Tuscany Italy in 2010. I spent many afternoon reading here or just admiring the landscape below. This was the way to either enter or exit the garden of this 1C house where reminisce of people of the past had shaped this mysterious stairway leading to the garden. Here I wanted to emphasize the centuries old wear and tear of the cement steps gracefully adorned by the wild climbing ivy and flowers .
Grazia Vita

Grazia Vita

Bio Grazia Vita, a long time resident of lower Manhattan, became interested in photography as an art form after moving from Italy to New York. She studied photography at the International Center of Photography and the School of Visual Art. Grazia Vita’s images have been shown in various solos and group exhibitions. Her photographs are part of numerous private and public collections in the United States and abroad. Artist statement I take photographs because I want to capture the grandeur hidden within everything I focus on. While the subject itself is not important, the feeling conveyed by it is. I love photographing things that are full of mystery and beauty, and have a story to tell. I feel that the most ordinary subject matter can be transformed into the extraordinary depending on one's point of view. My vision is to capture a moment in time where the tangible and intangible meet. My work is inspired by childhood memories, as well as fantasies and dreams, from which I create a personal world where "magic" and beauty co-exist. My photographs depict landscapes, people, architecture, flowers and seascapes. I photograph in both black and white and vivid color. The finished prints vary from 16" x 20" to 30" X 40".
