The first in a three part series; Museum: The Object, The Art and The Observer, Object focuses on the everyday mundane items that are housed in museums. Fire hoses get the same lighting treatment as Renoirs, display copies of books get security systems and empty display cases get the royal treatment. Would a visitor from another world know what object is the priceless work of art and what object is there for utilitarian purposes? This part of the series explores the fluid concept of value by focusing on the everyday stored and presented in the same institution as high art.

Artwork Description
Diana Teeter
Born and raised in Michigan, from the moment my mom put a crayon in my hand I knew my life’s goal was to be an artist. I live in Brooklyn now but the goal remains the same: be an artist. I work in a coffee shop to pay the rent, survive the New York rat race with my wonderful husband by my side and hone my ninja skills in weekly karate classes. My refuge can be sought at the Camera Club of New York’s darkrooms. Darkroom #3 is my safe haven; my rabbit’s warren from which my creativity can be explored and art can be born.
