Artwork Description
Dato Mio
Dato Mio is from New York City and works in various disciplines including Collage, Photography, Writing, Installation, and Video. His work has been presented locally, nationally, and internationally. I believe that art is a language manifesting itself in many ways. My role as artist consists of being a worker in the service of thought and imagination. My work comes from a need that I have had my entire life; the need to describe the symbolic living metaphor. My art is driven by enigmatic forces who wish to remain unknown. My work is not didactic, but it has been pedagogical for me. Because I work intuitively, I often learn more about the work once I have completed it. My work does not exist in a bubble. It is connected to every part of my being. It is my purpose and destiny. In this age of terror, coming to the end of the first decade of a new century, in a world that seems to be disintegrating, art is the essence that truly makes life worth living for me. It is the signal that continues to point and strive towards what is possible in life.
