I have been taking pictures for the last 24 years and am most comfortable being defined as a photojournalist. Working predominantly with medium format cameras, an ever diminishing selection of film emulsions and available light, I record the fading remnants of the idealized American life of the last centuries making.When successful the presence of the camera recedes and the spirit of the subject,a cowboy, classic car or neon sign, fills the frame giving the viewer license to stare. My commercial work, produced with the same technical apparatus consists of portrait commissions of recording artists shot on sound stages,in my studio and exterior locations around the country. A native new yorker, I reside in Greenwich Village, among shelves of gray archival boxes in a 360 square foot daylight studio.
