Delphine’s artwork draws inspiration for her rich, multicultural family and personal history. Born to a Senegalese political father and French painter mother in Paris’s art Neighborhood and immigrant center 14 Arrondissement. After graduating with distinction from the Académie Charpentier School of Visual Art in 1999, she worked as a commercial art designer and animator for a number of clients in the music industry, including Coldplay, the Smashing Pumpkins, and Manu Chao. Disenchanted with commerical art world , Delphine traveled for a month to St. Louis, the capital of Senegal, with the goal of discovering and documenting her family heritage. Here Delphine was inspired to create Magic Photo Studio. The series combines black and white photography of Delphine’s family portraits with painted illiustrations She compresses pattern and image into a single composition; patterns extracted from African textiles, totemic animals, and plants. In 2008, Photographer Peter Beard invited Delphine to assist him in Botswana and collaborate on his photography art project for the Pirelli Calendar 2009. Traveling in Africa, Delphine discovered the natural wonders of rural Africa for the first time. Peter Beard is among one of the famous Photographer from New York who create original artwork from books, diaries and collage and collaborated with many artists including Andy Warhol, Andrew Wyeth, Richard Lindner, Terry Southern, Truman Capote, and Francis Bacon. In 2009 This trip revived her to return to Senegal and shoot a new story : Renaissance.
