The sculpture I have submitted is called “The Oscar for Torturers!” In my fantasy world I would like to present it to George W. Bush, Dick Cheney or Donald Rumsfeld. It is 27 in. tall carved in wood and covered in a zinc/lead metal alloy.
Jay Moss - Oscar for Torturers
Artwork Description
Jay Moss
After surviving four years at the raucus High School of Art and Design in NYC and World War II on the Anzio beachhead in Italy, I spent 3 ½ years at the Art Students League thanks to the G.I. Bill. After a short time at some advertising agencies, a position at NBC-TV’s Graphic Arts Department emerged and I worked there for the next 12 years, leaving as its head. I then formed a company making mirrors and decorative accessories in my basement. This enterprise proved very successful and a large lighting company was anxious to acquire it. I then designed products for them and many other large firms. During all these years my real passion was making sculpture, and I spent every moment I could on this work. The sculpture I have submitted is called “The Oscar for Torturers!” In my fantasy world I would like to present it to George W. Bush, Dick Cheney or Donald Rumsfeld. It is 27 in. tall carved in wood and covered in a zinc/lead metal alloy.
