Jonathan Bauch’s body of work spans forty years. His latest exhibition Friends in Steel opened at Westbeth Gallery, on May 27, 2011 he was both curator and exhibitor of this large group sculpture exhibition. Bauch currently teaches welded sculpture at the Educational Alliance Art School where he was Artist in Residence during 2004-2005 in a program funded by the Abrons Art Center. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Bauch graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1961. He studied painting at NYU and the School of Visual Arts, and sculpture at The Educational Alliance. Bauch’s early work as a painter evolved into aluminum and wire mesh relief sculpture with colored lights. Since 2000, Bauch has created approximately 75 works in welded steel. He has exhibited mostly New York City and in the metro area including New England. His one-person sculpture shows include — Spirits in Steel at the Gallery 307, October 21, 2010, NYC.
