Artwork Description

I frequently work with in a thematic series that primarily examines ideologies found in American culture. My aesthetic is drawn to a Grotesque but beautiful sensibility as I find brilliance and energy in objects that invoke story or memory. I engage the viewer to witness and contemplate another perspective in the way we view our selves and our connections to each other. In doing so, I strive for my audience to discover new forms of expression, to heal old wounds, to question institutions and traditions, and to invoke new concepts from my work. I’m deeply inspired by the genus way people recreate themselves from annihilation and oppression. Historically Caribbean people have always found a way to crave themselves out place in this world and do it with such style. The captured series is completely made from recyclable materials transformed into abstract sculptures that resemble patterns found in nature. My new work has been a great deal of focus on human beings connection to living and nonliving things in our universe. The use of technologies has had its befits to the modern world and also its disadvantages to way we commutate interact with living things. I choose to use materials from out dated technologies such as vinyl records, vhs tapes and film, which would take hundreds of years for the plastic to decompose. Time and memory are mutable and uncertain and we can only count on the Inherent ability of all living things to adapt and transform to Survive.
